About Me
Born and raised in Chicago Illinois, Today Bryant T is a seasoned Drummer and Percussionist for over forty years. He was given his first set of Bongo’s from his grandmother at the tender age of eight. She noticed he was beating on everything in the house. Bryant T. began by playing Bongo's and from there to Congo's that advanced him to Drums. His practice began in church. Without a doubt Bryant T owes most of his percussion's and Drum fame to the late Marvin Yancy as he had grown a little older and wiser, continuing to play on the gospel scene Yancy was for sure his confirmation from his higher power that lead him to his divine destiny of his self-taught Gifted Talent in different genres of the music industry such as Jazz, Blues, R&B, Country, Rock, Soul and Hip Hop. At age nine Bryant T. did his very first recording on the gospel circuit. Bryant T was an excellent dancer as well in his young age; he appeared as a two time guest on the Chicago Hit Dance Show "Big Bill Hill Show" which aired on channel 26.
Throughout the course of High School Bryant T. was music major at Dunbar Vocational High he was in the Jazz, Marching and Concert Band. Bryant T. being exposed to the many different styles of music would shape his future drumming skills and would developed his own unique, creative and innovative style. His swiftness, strength behind this feeling of unleashing the power of the sticks that became so easy but yet still dedicated.
Bryant T. has excelled and traveled the world since his elaboration. Welcoming the change from standard practices, and diligent efforts, his bliss was calling out to him, earning his credits and way to bigger and tougher bands. He has graced the stage with Legendary Talents such as Mavis Staples, The Staple singers, Natalie Cole, KoKo Taylor, Tom Jones, Taj Mahal, Wynton Marseilles, Billie Preston, Grammy Winner Sinead O'Connor, Grammy Nominated Lindsey Alexander and Lauren Mitchell just to name a few, "I was blessed to have jammed with many talented Artist". "I tilt my hat and am pleasured to have performed with George Clinton the Funk Myster at Island Record Studios in Chicago, shot out to the owner "Kevon", Jeff Healy was another artist I had the pleasure of gracing the stage with at the Kingston Mines as well as Buddy Guy and Mick Jagger at Buddy Guys Legends, the list can go on and on....etc".
Bryant T. partnered up with T.Rose, Lovely Fuller and Ian Mundragon in the early years of the Millennium and formed a band called "The Trija Project but later changed the name to " 3one2", and recorded their first CD which Intel of several Languages....Bryant T.,Lovely and Ian moved on to other opportunities but T.Rose and Jesse Harvey continued to leave plenty room for optimism and recognizing the special quality of what they kept together Soul ...SWEET!!!! The energy and High Spirits they shared, their enthusiasm and vibrant lead deliver imaginative impressions of excitement that something very HUGE was about to happen......
Because of his love for playing the Drums he puts all he has into his work that comes natural like the old saying "If you do what you love you will never work a day in your life" this is Bryant T's motto and the way he truly feel for his drums and percussion's. Bryant T would like to invite all his friends to listen to the sound that he has created on his New and Upcoming CD “Side to Front” “It’s my Time”.
On the Gospel circuit: "I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work on the Gospel scene with Inez Andrews, Albertina Walker, James Cleveland, The Barrett Sisters, Reverend Clay Evans”, he embraces being on stage with The Great Jesse Dixon, Donald McGee and the Company, The Chicago State University Choir. Throughout my developing years with 'The Late Great Marvin Yancy" I scholarly everything he taught me and held it near and dear to my heart.
Today I have ventured highly on the Blues circuit with Artist such as: Jimmy Burns, Sugar Blue, Melvin Taylor, Billy Branch, Sutudabaker John, Nellie 'Tiger' Travis, Javon Watson, Big James & Chicago Playboys and Charlie Love. I also had the pleasure to open shows with Mavis Staples for Icons such as The Late Great Isaac Hayes, Tony Bennett and Little Richard.
I would like to thank and praise God for the opportunity to be inducted into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame. On June 8th, 2014 at Buddy Guys Legends, the induction ceremony took place. It was an awesome honor to be inducted and take my place among other honorees and those already inducted into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame. Peace!!
